They work like a screw and nut, using special swivelling bearings pressed against the shaft. They suit every winding mechanism — spooling, quilling, warping and coning — of any material, and solve many other mechanical transmission problems.
How the traverse units work
- 6 contact points: the outer rings of the bearings, pressed against the sliding shaft by preloaded spring packs.
- Knob with graduated ring for micrometric pitch adjustment.
- Hardened and ground steel shaft, minimum surface hardness 60 HRC, h6 tolerance.
- Very compact, minimal mounting space.
- Release lever for fitting and moving the unit along the shaft.
- Instant reversal: perfectly parallel windings.
